Save the Pantry!

The world pantry is stabilized by an ancient mask with three components: Culture, Soil, and Filtration. It is a sacred mask that for decades kept the Earth stable. One day, the mask was split into its’ three components and misused by people seeking power and money.
As the power of the masks spread, the masks materialized into food systems and destabilized the world pantry. The player has been given the lead that they may be able to reclaim partial components by seeking out bananas, cheese, and fish to figure out how to stabilize the world pantry once again.

The player’s mission is to collect the three remaining components to stabilize the world food system again and protect the food from contamination or extinction!

First stage: Cheese (Culture Mask keeps microbial ecosystems diverse and alive). Brie-style cheese is “alive” because of microbial ecosystems and cultures. The culture mask has been misused to overproduce microbial systems that make Brie Cheese, which puts Brie on the brink of destroying the culture. Save the cheese by taking off the mask that is disrupting the microbial ecosystem.

Second stage: Banana (Soil Mask keeps land resilient and prevents invisible spread of fungus in the roots) Bananas are a symbol of being “always available,” but the real threat is invisible and underground: a soil-borne fungus (TR4, Panama disease). Recover the banana by removing the mask before the disease spreads further.

Third stage: Fish (Filtration Mask keeps waters clear and prevents toxins from entering the food chain, purification and flow). Fish are a protein lifeline and a keystone species. However, since the filtration mask has been locked away in an ocean trash vortex, the fish are becoming contaminated by microplastics. This has led to trophic cascades across the world pantry!!! Save the fish by taking off the mask that feeds microplastics into the fish.
At the end: There are still cracks and missing pieces! (Sad moment) But I’m sure we can find them if the world works together to rebalance the world pantry. We need you and your communities to help get the world back in shape!
